LAW Trajectory
Mount (LTM)
for the M72-A7 and M72-A9
Light
Anti-Armor Weapon (LAW)
The
M72 Light Anti-Armor Weapon (LAW) Rocket is a single use, disposal weapon launch tube that is delivered only with basic iron
day sights. These sights do not provide adequate targeting capability for night operations. Additionally, the M72 LAW Rocket
does not have a straight line of trajectory because the difference from 0 to 400 meters in rocket trajectory drop is 65 feet.
Furthermore, the M72 LAW Rocket does not provide a means to verify weapon orientation or cant and distance to the target.
These factors severely affect the night time accuracy and probability of first round hit of the weapon system and force the
operator to rely on instinct and experience and other nonscientific methods
to achieve target accuracy (Kentucky Windage).
Wilcox is an
industry leader in the design, manufacture and test of Trajectory Sights to meet your need as an operator. Wilcox's approach
to product development has allowed our company to create a unique product enhances the night fighting capability and increases
the hit probability and accuracy of the Light Anti–Armor Weapon (LAW) rocket during day and night shooting.
The Law Trajectory Mount (LTM) quickly attaches to the front sight sanction of the LAW M72-A7 and M72-A9 rocket configurations.
The LTM is secured to the LAW by means
of a Tube Clamp and Ratchetable Strap.
A quick release button
allows the ratchet to be released so the operator can loosen and remove the LTM for reuse without the need for further boresighting.
The Tube Clamp secures hand tight with a thumb nut.
The unique design of the LTM incorporates
a digital display that indicates the distance to target, and provides the operator with single handed, ergonomically adjustable
control of the firing mechanism. It overcomes obstacles faced by operators of the currently fielded sight with a number of
unique features, provides a cost savings on the first use, and is reusable for added savings.
A shrouded release button facilitates the re-use of the LTM and prevents the accidental release of the LTM from the LAW.
This provides a strategic advantage to operators of the disposable LAW. The Collapsible Grip feature allows an operator to
sling the launch tube without interference.
Distinct
Features of the LAW Trajectory Mount are as follows:
1)
A Rotary Switch allows
the operator to control two modes of operation for both the M72-A7 and M72–A9. Each device features a “Lo”
mode option for nighttime operations and a “Hi” mode for daytime operations.
2) A MIL-STD-1913 Rail
Interface allows for mounting of various aiming devices.
3) A red colored Activation
Button engages the attached laser, and is ergonomically located within easy reach at the operator’s thumb position.
This provides the operator with the ability to perform nighttime targeting with increased accuracy day or night.
4) An Anti-Cant Indicator
displays red, yellow, and green signals, allowing the operator to ensure that the LAW Rocket is perpendicular to the horizon.
5) A rubber/tactile Elevation
Knob allows the operator to change the angle of the mounted aiming device, indicating the distance to target (in meters).
6) The LTM provides integrated
activation of an AN/PEQ-2, ATPIAL, or compatible aiming device, by means
of a Remote Control Cord.
7) A rotating Grip Extender is conveniently located
at the base of the grip, allowing the operator to ergonomically adjust handle height.
8) A locking Tube Clamp
prevents movement of the LTM front end during operation.
9)
An adjustable Ratcheting
Strap allows for quick mounting and dismounting of the LTM. Once boresighted to one LAW, the LTM can be mounted to multiple
rockets without losing boresight.
10) Total System Weight with battery
is 1.18 lb
